Our featured ingredient, CITES permitted Rosewood, has a rich history in perfumery and is known for its unique floral aroma. However, due to over-harvesting, it became an endangered species. We use this oil sparingly and always with intention and gratitude, as we understand its value and importance. It contains a high amount of linalool, which has a relaxing effect on both the mind and body and is associated with promoting peaceful sleep and dreaming when used at night.
To ensure the responsible sourcing of this endangered species, we partner with Camino Verde, an organization dedicated to the regeneration of Rosewood. They operate one of the largest regeneration efforts for this aromatic tree by planting seedlings in local communities and using low-hanging lateral branches to produce essential oil. This not only brings significant revenue to communities but also helps restore degraded land sites with diverse agroforestry systems, which provide economic stability and food for people while preserving one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.
